Tetouan: The Moroccan Poets Festival concluded its sixth edition after three days of celebrating the written word and fostering a deeper appreciation for poetry and culture within the Arab world. According to Emirates News Agency, the closing ceremony took place at the National School of Crafts and Arts in Tetouan. The event was attended by several distinguished figures, including Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Owais, Chairman of the Sharjah Department of Culture; Professor Mohammed Ibrahim Al Qaseer, Director of the Cultural Affairs Department; Rachid Al Mustafa, Head of the Cooperation Department at the Moroccan Ministry of Youth, Culture, and Communication; Dr. Youssef Al Fahri, President of the Higher School of Teachers in Martil; and Mukhlis Al Sagheer, Director of the House of Poetry in Tetouan. Writers, intellectuals, and university students also joined the celebration. Al Sagheer emphasized the festival's commitment to innovation and its growing influence in the Arab world. He noted that the sixth edition witnessed significant official and public engagement. The House of Poetry in Tetouan, established in 2016, is already planning for a remarkable seventh edition next year, coinciding with its tenth anniversary. Participants at the festival praised Sharjah as a leading example of Arab cultural support, citing the vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Ruler of Sharjah. His Highness's dedication to culture as a foundation for development has made Sharjah a beacon for nurturing new generations of Arab intellectuals. The festival's second day featured a symposium titled "Poetry and the Performing Arts," where speakers discussed the transformation of poetry into performance art. They highlighted how poetry transcends the written word, becoming a dynamic and multisensory experience when performed. The festival also included a unique session with visually impaired poets at the Taha Hussein Institute in Tetouan, showcasing how these creatives draw inspiration from life's nuances to create their expansive worlds. More than 40 poets, intellectuals, and artists participated in the festival, which also recognized 83 students for their achievements in a poetry writing workshop organized by the House of Poetry in collaboration with the Higher Teachers' School in Martil. Additionally, 18 students were honored in the regional Arabic Language Pioneers competition, an initiative involving over 37 educational institutions.
