Sharjah: H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and President of the University of Sharjah (UoS), attended the graduation ceremony for 566 female students earning their bachelor's degrees from UoS for the Spring 2025 batch, held in the university's city hall.
According to Emirates News Agency, the ceremony commenced with the national anthem of the United Arab Emirates, followed by recitations from the Holy Quran. Dr Issam Al-Din Ibrahim Ajami, Chancellor of the University of Sharjah, expressed gratitude to Sultan bin Ahmed for his presence and support for the university. He congratulated the graduates and their families, highlighting the students' academic achievements as a result of their dedication and family support.
Dr Ajami emphasized the significance of the graduating group, representing various colleges and contributing to cultural development and national growth. He highlighted the university's accomplishments since its inception in 1997, noting that over 48,000 graduates have emerged, many in leadership roles. He pointed out that 65% of the university's students and alumni are female, underscoring the important role of women in the institution.
He further outlined UoS's collaboration with higher education institutions and its commitment to the Emirate of Sharjah's vision. The university actively engages in developmental projects and collaborates with federal bodies and ministries to ensure the quality of its programs. Dr Ajami stressed the importance of global communication and cooperation to maintain excellence in education and research.
Addressing the graduates, Dr Ajami acknowledged their journey filled with determination and hard work. He reminded them that graduation marks the beginning of a new era where they will contribute to nation-building and societal development. He highlighted the essential roles the graduates will play as future educators and mothers, emphasizing their impact on the next generation.
Graduate Hafsa Abdul Nasser from the College of Engineering delivered a speech, expressing gratitude and joy for reaching this milestone. She praised her fellow graduates for their perseverance and expressed appreciation to the Ruler of Sharjah for his guidance and support.
Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi awarded degrees to graduates from various colleges, congratulating them and wishing them success in their future endeavors.
