The first meeting between the heads of the border provinces of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and the governors of Erbil, Dohuk and Sulaymaniyah in the Kurdistan region of Iraq began today, Thursday morning, in the city of Urmia in West Azarbaijan Governorate (northwestern Iran).
According to IRNA, the meeting is being held under the auspices of the Iranian Interior Minister, Ahmad Vahidi, and in the presence of the Iranian Consul General in Erbil, Nasrallah Rashnoudi, and the head of the Iranian Customs Authority, Muhammad Rezvanifar, as well as MPs of parliament representing the people of the provinces of West Azerbaijan, Kurdistan and Kermanshah (western Iran( .
“IRNA” stated that the meeting of the heads of the border provinces with the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, in its first edition over two days, will discuss ways to raise the level of trade exchange between the two sides, develop border markets and deepen bilateral relations in various economic, political, cultural and sports fields.
It is mentioned that the West Azerbaijan province has a common border of 250 km with the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.
