Oaxaca: At least 13 people have died and 98 others were injured after an Interoceanic train derailed in the southern state of Oaxaca, Mexican authorities reported on Sunday. The tragic incident has prompted an investigation by the country's Attorney General's Office. According to Emirates News Agency, the Mexican Navy confirmed that the train was carrying a total of 241 passengers, including nine crew members. Of those on board, 193 people were reported to be out of danger, while 98 sustained injuries. Among the injured, 36 individuals are currently receiving medical assistance, with five in critical condition, as stated by President Sheinbaum. The derailment took place between the towns of Chivela and Nizanda. Following the incident, Mexico's Attorney General's Office, led by General Ernestina Godoy Ramos, announced via social media that an investigation into the cause of the derailment is already underway.
