UAE Ambassador Discusses Muslim Brotherhood Threat at European Parliament Conference

Brussels: UAE Ambassador to the European Union, Mohammed Ismail Al Sahlawi, participated in a conference titled 'Muslim Brotherhood: a real threat to Europe' held at the European Parliament. The event was hosted by the European Conservatives and Reformists Party and attended by numerous Members of the European Parliament from various European political parties. The conference aimed to address the threats posed by the Muslim Brotherhood across Europe.

According to Emirates News Agency, the participants at the conference highlighted the strategies employed by the Muslim Brotherhood to infiltrate European society and institutions. They discussed the group's influence on policy-making and its promotion of extremist ideologies under the guise of religious freedom. The participants commended the UAE's model of designating the Muslim Brotherhood as a terrorist organization and urged European policymakers to consider the UAE's approach.

During the conference, Ambassador Al Sahlawi reiterated the UAE's commitment to combating extremism and terrorism. He emphasized the importance of promoting coexistence and tolerance while rejecting violence and extremism. Al Sahlawi also stressed the need for international and regional cooperation in addressing the threat posed by the Muslim Brotherhood.

Al Sahlawi welcomed the decision by several countries to designate branches of the Muslim Brotherhood as terrorist organizations. He cited official reports documenting these branches' involvement in unlawful activities, including terrorism and public calls for extremism. The ambassador reaffirmed the UAE's support for international efforts to counter extremism and terrorism, aiming to enhance security and stability at both regional and international levels.

The conference concluded with several recommendations, including the listing of the Muslim Brotherhood as a terrorist organization by the EU, the establishment of mechanisms to prevent European funds from benefiting organizations linked to radical Islam, and the implementation of harmonized bans on activists promoting radical Islam across the EU.
