UAE and Angola Unite for Africa’s Prosperity, Says Angolan Ambassador

Abu dhabi: Jºlio Maiato, Ambassador of the Republic of Angola to the UAE, has highlighted the shared ambition of the UAE and Angola for a prosperous and integrated Africa. He asserts that both nations are equipped with the capabilities and resolve to transform this vision into practical outcomes that will benefit the continent as a whole.

According to Emirates News Agency, Ambassador Maiato commended the dynamic and strategically significant partnership that has developed between the UAE and Angola. This partnership, he noted, is based on mutual respect, a shared vision, and a joint commitment to sustainable development, making it one of the most important along the Africa-Gulf corridor.

Maiato emphasized the significance of the State Visit by President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to Angola in August, which followed previous visits by President Joo Manuel Gon§alves Louren§o of Angola to the UAE. These visits marked a pivotal moment in bilateral relations and ushered in a new era of cooperation centered on trust, investment, and innovation. The partnership has already yielded tangible progress in priority sectors, aligning with the long-term development goals of both countries.

During a meeting with officials in the News Content Sector at WAM, the Ambassador expressed Angola's eagerness to enhance media cooperation with the UAE. He referenced the Agreement on News Exchange signed between the Angola Press Agency (ANGOP) and WAM, which will involve the daily, free exchange of news, photographs, and videos in agreed languages. This content will be distributed through their official websites and local media outlets, and the partnership is expected to expand to include television, radio, and print.

Ambassador Maiato, along with members of the Angolan Embassy in Abu Dhabi, visited WAM headquarters to gain insights into the agency's growth, operations, and expanding media services. The Ambassador underscored the importance of media in fostering mutual understanding and highlighted plans to develop media cooperation with the UAE, indicating that media is seen as a key pillar of national and international connectivity.
