Dubai: Dr. Mohamed Al Kuwaiti, Head of Cybersecurity Council for the UAE Government, announced that the UAE's National Cybersecurity Strategy incorporates a comprehensive approach for integration with artificial intelligence (AI) technologies. He emphasized that the newly established national standards and policies serve as a roadmap for AI-driven government digital transformation.
According to Emirates News Agency, during the Annual Meetings of Global Future Councils and Cybersecurity in Dubai, Al Kuwaiti highlighted that the UAE's ongoing investment in AI and cybersecurity demonstrates its commitment to developing digital infrastructure that can address emerging challenges. He noted the UAE's top global ranking in all categories of the International Telecommunication Union's (ITU) Global AI in Cybersecurity Index, crediting this success to the nation's visionary approach, strategic investments in advanced technologies, and continuous efforts to train national talent and forge international partnerships.
Al Kuwaiti confirmed that the UAE has successfully countered several cyberattacks targeting critical infrastructure, especially in the context of recent geopolitical developments. He stressed the effectiveness of the nation's advanced systems and specialized teams in mitigating these threats. He reported that the UAE encounters nearly 150,000 cyberattacks daily, with the number increasing to over 300,000 during periods of global or regional instability, all managed under a sophisticated national framework aligned with global best practices.
Al Kuwaiti also warned against the irresponsible use of AI technologies, noting that such practices could compromise data protection and facilitate cyber intrusions. He pointed out that technological advancements have introduced new threats, such as deepfakes and online manipulation, which are being exploited in information and cyber warfare.
