Paris: The US State Department has given the green light to a potential $2.68 billion sale of air defence equipment to Ukraine. This decision marks a significant step in the ongoing military support to Ukraine, amid heightened tensions in the region.

According to Emirates News Agency, the State Department, in a congressional notification, confirmed its determination to approve a possible Foreign Military Sale to the Government of Ukraine. This sale includes air defence development upgrades and related equipment and services, which are crucial for bolstering Ukraine's military capabilities.

The State Department also mentioned that if the proposed purchase is finalized, Ukraine would fund it through a mix of European contributions and U.S. Foreign Military Financing that was appropriated during the previous administration. The proposed sale will be subject to congressional review, ensuring that all appropriate legislative procedures are followed.
