Dubai: The 27th edition of the Water, Energy, Technology and Environment Exhibition (WETEX), organised by Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), is set to take place from 30th September to 2nd October 2025 at the Dubai World Trade Centre. The event, held under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, aims to place electric vehicles (EVs) and sustainable mobility at the forefront of its agenda.
According to Emirates News Agency, WETEX 2025 is focused on promoting innovation and competitiveness in the eco-friendly vehicle sector, in line with Dubai's Green Mobility Strategy 2030. The event is expected to see increased participation, reflecting the growing demand for EVs and sustainable logistics. This year's exhibition will feature a larger number of local and international companies that are leading the way in green mobility solutions across various modes of transport.
The exhibition will spotlight the latest innovations in hydrogen technologies, low-emission fuels, and artificial intelligence applications that support EV adoption and infrastructure development. Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of DEWA and Founder and Chairman of WETEX, emphasized the event's role in promoting competitiveness among companies in the EV sector, aligning with the UAE's Net Zero 2050 Strategy and the National Electric Vehicles Policy. Al Tayer highlighted the collaborative efforts with partners to enhance sustainable transport infrastructure, reinforcing Dubai's strategic sustainability goals.
Global EV sales increased by about 14% in 2024, with significant growth in the UAE market. Data from Focus2Move and other reports indicate a record 260% rise in EV sales across the UAE, marking consistent growth over the past five years. The cost reduction in lithium batteries also contributed to a decrease in EV prices.
WETEX 2025 will showcase solutions from companies using AI to address sustainable mobility challenges, enhancing electric vehicle production and safety. During the exhibition, DEWA will present its EV Green Charger initiative, featuring over 1,500 charging points. DEWA has also collaborated with ENOC Group to provide green hydrogen and other fuels at the Service Station of the Future in Expo City, Dubai.
Muna Al Osaimi, CEO of Strategy and Corporate Governance Sector at RTA, discussed RTA's initiatives, including the transition to zero-emission buses and the adoption of electric bikes. Shehab Gargash, Managing Director and Group CEO of the Gargash Group, and Roberto Colucci, Director of EVs at AW Rostamani Group, expressed their commitment to sustainable mobility through their participation at WETEX.
Farouq Khader, Founder and CEO of Charger, emphasized the importance of collaboration between public and private sectors in accelerating the UAE's EV sector growth. Abdulmuain Al Soufi, Product Line Manager at alfanar Electric, highlighted alfanar's role in expanding EV charging infrastructure across the region.
Rahul Singh, Managing Director of Car Rental Group - National Rent A Car, noted the significance of green mobility solutions in supporting the UAE's sustainability strategy. Cavaliere Salvatore Scalisi, founder and owner of CMS Management Consulting LLC, and Pantea Jalali, General Manager and owner of Info Tech Middle East LLC, shared their companies' efforts in promoting sustainable development and innovation at WETEX.
Hossein Yarmohammadi, CEO of Metrobit, and Ali Simeto, CEO of Ulozi Motors, expressed their companies' dedication to supporting the UAE's clean energy journey through innovative solutions presented at WETEX. Elie Nehme, General Manager of SOUEAST UAE, and Qiyi Xie, General Manager of Oneroad Automotive, highlighted their companies' contributions to the UAE's green mobility vision, showcasing advanced vehicles at the exhibition.
