Dubai: The World Sports Summit began on Monday in Dubai, bringing together over 1,500 sports leaders, policymakers, and athletes to deliberate on the future of the industry. The event is organized under the theme "Uniting the World Through Sport."
According to Emirates News Agency, the summit is held under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defence, and Chairman of the Executive Council of Dubai. The two-day event at Madinat Jumeirah features 70 speakers and is set to explore the intersection of sports with global economic, social, and cultural trends.
During the opening ceremony, Khalfan Belhoul, Vice Chairman of the Dubai Sports Council, emphasized that the summit aligns with the UAE's vision of becoming a global platform for international cooperation. He mentioned that the initiative aims to utilize Dubai's infrastructure to attract entrepreneurs and athletes while tackling the evolving challenges within the international sporting sector.
Belhoul also pointed out that the summit signifies the start of a long-term collaborative effort based in Dubai to advance the global development of sports and its societal impact.
