Zayed Authority and Americana Restaurants Sign MoU to Empower Deaf Community

Abu dhabi: Zayed Authority for People of Determination has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with Americana Restaurants to enhance collaboration in hiring and empowering people from the deaf community within Americana's caf©s and restaurants. This agreement demonstrates both parties' dedication to inclusion and social responsibility.

According to Emirates News Agency, the MoU aims to create sustainable employment opportunities for People of Determination by aligning roles with their skills, ensuring fair compensation, and promoting a supportive work environment. The agreement outlines a collaborative effort to identify and nominate suitable candidates, along with implementing training and rehabilitation programs tailored to the deaf community. Additionally, internal training sessions will be provided to facilitate their professional growth and career advancement.

The partnership includes joint site visits to evaluate and improve workplace readiness, ensuring that the work environment is accessible and conducive to both physical and psychological well-being. As part of the agreement, Americana Restaurants will appoint a supervisor specifically trained to support deaf employees, adhering to recognized best practices.

Abdullah Abdulali Al Humaidan, Secretary-General of Zayed Authority for People of Determination, emphasized the importance of public-private partnerships in creating inclusive work environments. He stated that this collaboration serves as a model for empowering People of Determination by providing fair employment opportunities that respect their abilities and promote economic and social independence.

The MoU also allows for joint participation in career fairs and community events, with Americana Restaurants receiving formal recognition as a partner in the field of inclusive employment. Americana Restaurants has reiterated its commitment to fostering accessible work environments as part of its sustainability and corporate responsibility strategy, expanding on existing initiatives within the UAE.

Sheldon Williams, General Manager of Pizza Hut at Americana Restaurants, highlighted that the MoU is a part of the 'Opportunity4All' initiative. This program aims to build inclusive workplaces where People of Determination can grow and contribute confidently. Williams emphasized that capability-building and equal opportunity are essential for developing more inclusive and sustainable communities.

Nadine El Haddad, Pizza Hut Global Franchise Markets Chief People and Culture Officer, expressed that changing workplaces can lead to changing the world. The 'Opportunity4All' initiative represents a significant step toward inclusion and aligns with the UAE's Vision 2031 and national policies to empower People of Determination. She called on organizations across sectors to join in creating a future with truly equal opportunities for all.
