Abu dhabi: The Emergencies, Crises and Disasters Management Centre Abu Dhabi (ADCMC) has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI) aimed at enhancing cooperation and exchanging expertise in the fields of technological innovation and artificial intelligence (AI).
According to Emirates News Agency, this agreement was finalized during ADCMC's participation in GITEX Global 2025, held in Dubai until 17th October. The MoU was signed by Dr. Abdulla Hamarain Al Dhaheri, Executive Director of Response and Recovery Sector at ADCMC, while MBZUAI was represented by Professor Sami Haddadin, Vice President of Research.
The primary goal of the MoU is to align efforts in advancing AI and its applications, supporting smart transformation initiatives, and bolstering institutional preparedness in accordance with international best practices. It emphasizes strategic pillars such as providing specialised studies and research in AI to develop innovative technical solutions, exploring projects and research ideas, and offering specialised academic consultations to enhance crisis management and data-driven decision-making. Additionally, the MoU aims to improve national talent through advanced training programs in AI and the development of systems to monitor cyber threats.
Dr. Abdulla Hamarain Al Dhaheri remarked that the MoU aligns with the Abu Dhabi Government's vision to foster innovation and adopt the latest advancements in AI. He described the partnership with MBZUAI as a significant milestone in Abu Dhabi's digital transformation journey, offering a platform for knowledge exchange and opening new research avenues.
Professor Sami Haddadin from MBZUAI highlighted the shared commitment to making AI a practical tool for societal resilience. He emphasized the importance of nurturing national talent through advanced training and developing AI systems to equip the UAE with cutting-edge AI capabilities.
The MoU also includes provisions for knowledge exchange and community engagement, organizing joint events and conferences to spotlight AI advancements. It offers university students training opportunities, preparing them for the job market. The agreement aligns with Abu Dhabi's strategic vision to enhance cooperation between government and academic sectors, ensuring the adoption of sustainable, innovation-driven solutions and reinforcing the emirate's leadership in crisis management.
