Abu Dhabi: The Endowments and Minors Funds Authority (Awqaf Abu Dhabi) has introduced the Awqaf Abu Dhabi - Community Centre, marking the first initiative in a series of projects envisioned under the Life Endowment campaign.
According to Emirates News Agency, this campaign, organized in collaboration with the Department of Health - Abu Dhabi, operates under the slogan "With You For Life" and is designed to support patients with chronic diseases.
The primary goal of the Life Endowment campaign is to enhance the sustainability of healthcare services and cover treatment costs for the most vulnerable patients. This initiative embodies the spirit of giving and solidarity that characterizes the UAE's Year of the Community. The AED50 million Awqaf Abu Dhabi - Community Centre aims to be a vibrant hub for community engagement, offering a mix of shopping, entertainment, and cultural experiences.
Blending modern spaces with Emirati identity, the community centre is designed to meet the needs of both residents and visitors. Planned for construction in Abu Dhabi City, the centre is expected to bolster the city's economic and tourist status while promoting social engagement and raising awareness about the significance of endowments and social contributions. Additionally, the project is anticipated to create job opportunities and make use of unused lands and their proceeds.
Abdulhamid Mohammed Saeed, Chairman of the Endowments and Minors Funds Authority, stated that the launch of the Life Endowment campaign creates a sustainable model for supporting those unable to afford chronic disease treatment, ensuring continued access to healthcare services. He emphasized the commitment to achieving the campaign's goals by investing endowment funds in projects that generate strong returns, thereby benefiting and empowering the community economically.
Furthermore, Saeed highlighted that the Awqaf Abu Dhabi - Community Centre will not only provide financial returns for the endowment fund but also deliver significant community benefits. These include raising awareness about the importance of endowments, encouraging community engagement, and promoting the economic development of the surrounding area.
