Abu Dhabi: KEZAD Group, a major operator of integrated and purpose-built economic zones, and Broaden Energy have announced a 50-year land lease agreement to establish a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in KEZAD Area A (KEZAD Al Ma'mourah). The agreement was signed at the fourth edition of Make it in the Emirates (MIITE) event in Abu Dhabi.
According to Emirates News Agency, this development marks the first phase of Broaden Energy's new manufacturing complex, which was publicly announced in partnership with the Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development (ADDED) last year. This initiative is a significant expansion of the company's capabilities in local hydrogen generation, refueling, and storage systems in the UAE, and represents the first facility of its kind in the region.
UAE-based Broaden Energy has invested AED455 million to set up its 80,000 square meter facility that will deliver sustainable solutions using renewable energy sources such as hydrogen, solar, and wind power. The operations at the new facility in KEZAD are expected to create around 1,000 direct permanent new jobs.
Abdullah Al Hameli, CEO of Economic Cities and Free Zones, emphasized the importance of renewable energy in Abu Dhabi's mission to diversify its energy solution mix for economic development. He stated that the partnership with Broaden Energy reinforces KEZAD's commitment to facilitating manufacturing innovation in the renewable energy sector, which aligns with the UAE Energy Strategy 2050 for net zero emissions.
Adnan Sokolija, CEO of Broaden Energy, highlighted that the agreement with KEZAD is a critical step in the company's expansion plans. He affirmed Broaden Energy's dedication to developing advanced solutions that support the nation's local manufacturing initiatives for long-term industrial growth and contribute to Abu Dhabi's clean energy development.
Investing in the renewable energy sector is essential to achieving Abu Dhabi's economic diversification goals. KEZAD continues to play a key role in this development by encouraging expertise and innovation in renewable energy through strategic partnerships.
