Fatima Ezzahra El Mansouri Appointed as Morocco’s First Woman Prime Minister

Abu Dhabi:King Mohammed VI has appointed Fatima Ezzahra El Mansouri as the country's first woman prime minister following the recent parliamentary elections.

According to Emirates News Agency, El Mansouri's appointment comes after her party, the Authenticity and Modernity Party (PAM), emerged victorious in the September 23 elections. The party secured 97 of the 395 available seats.

The appointment was made under Article 47 of the Moroccan Constitution, which mandates that the King selects the head of government from the party with the most seats. The royal palace confirmed that El Mansouri has been tasked with forming a new government.
