Latifa bint Mohammed Celebrates 9th Mohammed bin Rashid Arabic Language Award Winners

Dubai: Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, and in the presence of H.H. Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairperson of Dubai Culture and Arts Authority and Member of the Dubai Council, the winners of the ninth edition of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Arabic Language Award were celebrated at an official ceremony held today.

According to Emirates News Agency, the event, organised by the Mohammed Bin Rashid Library, underscores the UAE's dedication to promoting the Arabic language as a crucial aspect of cultural identity and heritage. It aligns with H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum's vision to empower the Arabic language and boost its global presence.

H.H. Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed emphasized the Arabic language's enduring legacy of wisdom and beauty, serving as both a historical and future voice. She highlighted that the Mohammed bin Rashid Arabic Language Award reinforces a commitment to preserving heritage and ensuring its growth amid rapid technological and intellectual changes. She noted that initiatives from Dubai are pivotal in elevating global appreciation for Arabic, presenting it as a means of expression, cultural bridge, and innovation.

She further expressed pride in the high calibre of this year's submissions and the growing global recognition the award garners annually. The celebration signifies that Arabic is not just a language, but a shared civilisational legacy bridging generations.

Mohammed Ahmed Al Murr, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Library Foundation, stated that the award embodies H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid's vision to enhance the global presence of the Arabic language. It serves as a platform promoting excellence and innovation in education, technology, media, and language policy. Since its inception, the award has recognised creativity and innovation in service of the Arabic language, with the ninth edition reflecting the growing global interest in Arabic.

Bilal Al Budoor, Secretary-General of the award, noted the significant international participation this year, highlighting Arabic's role as a cultural and civilisational bridge. Entries from 65 countries demonstrate the award's status as a global platform for Arabic language enthusiasts, with each submission reflecting a commitment to preserving Arabic and enhancing its role in shaping the future knowledge society.

The winners of the 9th edition were announced across various categories. Highlights include Anisa Alif from the UAE for the best way to teach Arabic in early education, and the Faseeh Center from Jordan for teaching Arabic to non-native speakers. Technology awards went to the Ataalam app from Lebanon for using social networking in learning Arabic and Arabee Tools from Palestine for developing digital content. Other notable winners included the Majarra app from the UAE in media, and the Arabian Days Festival from the UAE promoting reading culture.

This edition saw entries from 65 countries, with the Education category receiving the most submissions, highlighting the global emphasis on Arabic education. The award's total prize money of AED2.8 million (US$770,000) is distributed among winners to foster innovation and competitiveness in Arabic language projects.

Since its establishment, the award has honoured over 80 winners worldwide, supporting impactful and sustainable linguistic initiatives. Dubai, through this award, continues to affirm its role as a global hub for cultural innovation and intellectual exchange, focusing on the Arabic language as a foundation of sustainable development and cultural progress.
