UAE Showcases Labour Market Achievements, Vision at Islamic Conference of Labour Ministers in Qatar

Doha: The UAE, represented by the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE), participated in the sixth Islamic Conference of Labour Ministers of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), held in the Qatari capital, Doha. The event was themed 'Local Experiences, Global Achievements: Success Stories in the Islamic World'.

According to Emirates News Agency, the conference gathered Labour Ministers from OIC member states, representatives from regional and international organisations, experts, academics, and civil society representatives. Mohammed Saqr Al Nuaimi, MoHRE's Assistant Undersecretary for Support Services, led the UAE delegation. He emphasized the UAE government's prioritization of labour market objectives, aligning with the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation's goals in labour, employment, and social security. These efforts aim to enhance productive labour impact and provide social protection for OIC member countries.

In his address, Al Nuaimi highlighted the UAE's competitive labour market, attractive to global talents, and its legislative advancements to boost women's and youth participation. He also noted the UAE's comprehensive social protection system and its standing on human development and global competitiveness indicators. This aligns with the UAE's future-focused vision, aiming to shape the economy and embrace digital transformation.

The conference discussed key issues and challenges in Islamic countries' labour markets, including employment enhancement, expansion of social protection networks, skills and capacity building, and digital transformation. These discussions aim to achieve sustainable development goals and empower all societal segments.
