Latifa bint Mohammed Inaugurates 10th Edition of Knowledge Summit

Dubai: Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, H.H. Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairperson of Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, inaugurated the 10th edition of the Knowledge Summit at the Dubai World Trade Centre. The Summit, organized by the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation (MBRF) in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), will continue until 20 November under the theme 'Knowledge Markets: Developing Sustainable Communities'.

According to Emirates News Agency, H.H. Sheikha Latifa expressed pride in the Summit's ongoing success, emphasizing its role in gathering global experts and thought leaders to foster dialogue and inspire innovative solutions for sustainable development. She highlighted the importance of knowledge in nation-building and its potential to shape the future, reinforcing Dubai's position as a global hub for innovation.

H.H. Sheikha Latifa stated that investing in knowledge is crucial for empowering individuals and communities with the skills necessary to thrive. She stressed the UAE's commitment to nurturing future-ready communities through technology and artificial intelligence. During the event, she engaged with ministers and dignitaries, underscoring the importance of communication and expertise exchange among leaders.

Jamal bin Huwaireb, CEO of MBRF, noted the Knowledge Summit's evolution into a global event for creative minds and decision-makers. He emphasized its role as a catalyst for human development, driven by the vision of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. The Summit aims to expand its global reach and address challenges of sustainable development through innovation and knowledge.

Rebeca Grynspan, Secretary-General of UNCTAD, highlighted the Summit's role in advancing the knowledge movement and promoting digital inclusion. She emphasized the need for sound policy and oversight in ensuring knowledge translates into development. The Summit, according to her, serves as a platform for learning, exchanging insights, and building partnerships.

Dr. Abdallah Al Dardari, UN Assistant Secretary-General, reiterated the strategic importance of knowledge in the global order. He acknowledged the Summit's role in shaping societies capable of marketing and harnessing knowledge for sustainable development. The Global Knowledge Index, a collaboration between UNDP and MBRF, continues to be a benchmark for assessing knowledge creation and application.

The opening ceremony also revealed the results of the Global Knowledge Index 2025, with Switzerland, Singapore, and Sweden ranking highest globally. The UAE led among Arab countries. The Index has gained international recognition, with this year's edition featuring methodological updates and new criteria for assessing knowledge-based societies.

The first day of the Summit featured panel discussions, workshops, and dialogues led by global experts. Themes included knowledge markets, innovation, sustainability, and the role of partnerships in building knowledge ecosystems. The sessions highlighted the impact of knowledge exchange in advancing sustainable development.
