Sharjah: The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MoHESR) has teamed up with the Sharjah Private Education Authority (SPEA) to facilitate the transition of students from school to higher education. This partnership is focused on optimizing the enrolment process, improving university admission prospects, and promoting best practices in student empowerment.
According to Emirates News Agency, the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between MoHESR and SPEA highlights the Ministry's dedication to collaborating with local educational bodies to offer a cohesive learning experience from secondary education through to university admission. The agreement aims to provide students with clear pathways to make informed academic decisions that align with their career aspirations and national priorities.
The MoU stipulates that both parties will register students in Grades 11 and 12 in the Unified Registration System, enhance academic guidance in schools, and conduct preparatory workshops for students and advisors. Additionally, they will evaluate schools' readiness during this transitional phase and collaborate with the National Service and Reserve Authority to meet related admission requirements.
Under this agreement, MoHESR will work with higher education institutions to update admissions and majors data, provide alternative options for students, exchange pertinent data, and assess programs to achieve mutual objectives.
Dr. Abdulrahman Al Awar, Minister of Human Resources and Emiratisation and Acting Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, stated that the collaboration is designed to enhance students' readiness for higher education and the workforce, empowering them to contribute to a sustainable economy aligned with national goals.
Dr. Al Awar further emphasized MoHESR's continuous efforts to work with educational entities in enhancing the student journey, creating clear pathways to higher education, and expanding university options for students in Sharjah through the partnership with SPEA.
Dr. Muhadditha Alhashimi, Chairperson of SPEA, highlighted that the agreement represents a strategic move towards building an integrated education system that improves educational outcomes and supports the future success of students.
H.E. Dr. Alhashimi also pointed out that the agreement reflects SPEA's commitment to collaborating with educational entities and fostering a supportive learning environment, ensuring that students and parents receive accurate and timely information during critical transitions such as university registration and admissions.
This collaboration strengthens the Ministry's efforts to implement a redesigned student journey model, aiming to provide a seamless, integrated, and flexible educational experience that enhances outcomes and supports the UAE's objective of creating a competitive, sustainable knowledge-based economy.
