‘Russia’ Brig Sails Along Neva River Ahead of ‘Scarlet Sails’ Festival in St. Petersburg

St. Petersburg: The 'Russia' brig, a two-masted sailing ship adorned with striking red sails, was seen navigating the Neva River as St. Petersburg prepares for the annual 'Scarlet Sails' festival, which is set to take place on June 28.

According to Emirates News Agency, the ship made its way past iconic city landmarks, including the Palace Bridge and the Hermitage Museum. The 'Scarlet Sails' celebration, first held in June 1968, draws inspiration from Alexander Grin's 1922 novel of the same name. After a 25-year hiatus, the event was revived in 2005 and has since become a cherished cultural tradition in Russia, symbolizing the end of the school year.
